Jim Turney

He is originally from the Cleveland area and has lived in several locations throughout the country in pursuit of his educational and career endeavors.  Jim earned his BSB at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MBA at the University of Detroit, PhD in financial economics at USC and JD at UC-Hastings in San Francisco.

Jim’s first job out of college was with Ford Motor Company in Dearborn where he was a buyer and purchasing department administrator.  While at USC, he taught undergrad and MBA courses in the business school.

At the same time, he became an economic consultant with A.B. Laffer & Associates in Los Angeles and Boston. He continued his career as the international economist with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY.  Jim returned to Los Angeles to purchase and revive Kimura Wholesale Flowers.

After graduating from law school, Jim practiced briefly in Los Angeles before hiring with the law firm Best Best & Krieger in Indian Wells. There, he developed his skills and specialized in business law and real estate law.

Since establishing his own law firm in 2009, Jim has expanded his specialty fields to include estate planning to meet client demand.

Today, Jim’s practice is dynamic, serving clients in a wide range of industries and professions, including health care, hospitality, agriculture, cattle ranching, advertising, motion picture distribution, oil, energy, retail, and many other endeavors. Combining legal expertise with extensive business experience, seasoned negotiating skills are applied to client projects involving contracts, M&A, business formation, finance, intellectual property, real estate and renewable energy. And, estate planning strategies are developed to preserve client legacies.

Based in the Palm Springs area, the practice serves clients located primarily in Southern California (Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Imperial Counties). From time to time, legal engagements reach across the country (including Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming, Texas, Illinois, New Jersey, D.C., South Carolina, Georgia and Florida) and internationally (Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia).
